When to Reupholster
The obvious reason would be a piece that has sentimental value, your mother's or grandmother's furniture. Or maybe the sofa the children love to watch TV on and play on everyday.
Other reason might be, you can't seem to find the right size to replace the piece.
Store after store has just average fabric and you want unlimited fabric selection. A redesign has made your current fabric outdated or out of the question.
Perhaps besides some normal wear and tear, the frame is good. It is comfortable and has served you well. With a fine fabric of your choice the piece will be equal to new and serve you well for another couple of decades.
Go green. Quite possibly the most important reason. Today with many people hearing more and more about the environment they are willing to do their part to help. Recycling is their largest contribution - this is where reupholstering comes in. Recovering not only gives you a piece as good as new, but keeps another piece of furniture out of the landfills. Additionally, if you can't use the piece any longer
giving it to someone else and suggesting reupholstery as an option to them.
Pricing
Upholstery prices are for recovering a piece of furniture in good condition. Pricing for repairs and rebuilding is per piece and must be quoted after tear down (looking at condition). Surcharge for plaids is 15%. Prices can change for special shapes, sizes, and work. Because upholstery is custom work, no cancellations or refunds can be made once fabric is cut. Yardage recommendations are approximate; large repeats require more, and solids require less. Ordering an extra yard is always a good idea.
